Navigating the Evolving Landscape of Technology: A Year of Growth and Learning
Reflection: From Classroom to Code
In the span of a year, my journey in the world of web design has been nothing short of transformative. What began as an exploration of code and design has evolved into a multifaceted role managing several websites and diverse clients. The shift from solitary coding to collaborative projects, particularly with non-profits and educational institutions, has not only expanded my professional portfolio but also rekindled my connection with my roots as an educator. Reflecting on my five years as a Montessori teacher for 1st to 3rd graders, I can draw parallels between then and now—though the challenges have shifted, the essence of problem-solving remains. Instead of managing a classroom in the face of inclement weather or a global pandemic, my focus has shifted to delivering what clients need in a timely and cost-efficient manner. The transition from shaping young minds to crafting digital solutions has been seamless, thanks to the problem-solving skills honed in the classroom.
Web Design: Crafting Digital Experiences
Working with various website builders has provided invaluable hands-on experience, allowing me to form opinions on the best tools and hosting services. The ever-evolving nature of web design captivates me—the thrill of constant innovation, the potential to create something new or better. As I navigate this dynamic field, my goal remains to not only meet but exceed the expectations of clients, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the realm of web design.
Computer Science and Web Development- a dual Pursuit
In the pursuit of continuous improvement, I've also embarked on a parallel journey—a return to academia for a second bachelor's degree in computer science. This academic pursuit has not only broadened my understanding of programming languages but also presented new challenges. Questions like "How can I write this program in the cleanest way?" and "How can I land an internship at a reputable company?" have become my new focal points. As I navigate the intricate landscape of programming and software engineering, I find myself yearning to delve deeper into these realms. Learning Java and Python through coursework, alongside self-teaching C and Rust, has become not just a goal but a passion. The aspiration to become a better programmer is paralleled by the desire to enter the tech industry, leveraging my newfound skills and experiences.
Join me on this journey of growth and exploration—a journey where each line of code is a step forward, every challenge is an opportunity to learn and improve, and the horizon holds the promise of a seamless entry into the vast and exciting world of the tech industry. Together, let's embrace the evolving landscape of web design and harness its limitless potential to create something extraordinary.
